Spend two weeks camping on one of the most beautiful and successful wildlife sanctuaries in all of Africa, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in north eastern Kenya. Accompanied by your peers and the extraordinary people of Lewa you will be awestruck, educated and inspired by the Africa you encounter.
Picture
This is an opportunity for you to witness the magnificence of that which has nearly vanished from the earth.  As you do you will begin to understand something about this critical moment in history, especially as you will meet the extraordinary people of Lewa who will stop at nothing to protect these wild creatures.
Picture
Your strongest observational skills will be put to the test as you share what you have seen and what you think about the most important issues facing the survival of animals caught at the confluence of the ancient and wild with the explosive growth of the modern world.

Unplug yourself from the digital world for two weeks and listen to the unfiltered voices of Africa. Plug yourself into the endless variety of sounds that inform, entertain and sometimes alarm as you become familiar with the snorting of male impalas, the chatter of tree-top monkeys and the call of the lioness in the dead of night.

Open your eyes to a way of life that is very different from what you've come to know in the Roaring Fork Valley.

What Interns have to say

It was the best two weeks of my life.  I learned more than I thought possible, and about a range of subjects spanning from human nature to harvester ants, and yet even though I love it, upon leaving I felt more full than sad because Lewa really did change my perspective on the world and gave me dreams that made me a better person.  -Katia
